(MENAFN- Arab Times) GENEVA Aug 20 (KUNA): Kuwait is to donate a USD five million to World Health Organization (WHO) and to the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) to combat the spread of Ebola virus in West Africa. Kuwait Permanent Delegate at the United Nations Ambassador Jamal Al-Ghunaim told KUNA Wednesday that this donation was ordered by His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah to aid in this humanitarian crisis especially since Kuwait the current president of the African- Arab summit is concerned with supporting sustainable development programs on the African continent. This donation comes in critical time of fighting this disease and after WHO had issued a statement on Tuesday which called for monitoring larger geographical areas that have been hit by the virus. 'Affected countries are requested to conduct exit screening of all persons at international airports seaports and major land crossings for unexplained febrile illness consistent with potential Ebola infection' the statement said.
