South Korea's foreign debt registers USD131.8b in Q2


(MENAFN) South Korea's foreign debt grew for the third quarter as banks increased their borrowing, central bank data showed, Yonhap reported.

The country's short-term external debt registered USD131.8 billion in the end of June, up USD8 billion compared to last quarter, according to data from the Bank of Korea.

The second quarter figure marks the highest level since September 2012 when short-term foreign debt reached USD135.1 billion.

Korea's total external debt reached USD442.2 billion in the second quarter, increasing USD16.8 billion compared to the cited period.
