(MENAFN- Khaleej Times) A former federal minister has denied the allegation made by a 47-year-old Gujarat-based widow that he had tied the knot with her in 2005 and is the father of her 19-year-old elder son.Naran Rathwa former federal minister of state for railways and five-term parliamentarian from central Gujarat’s Chhota Udepur Lok Sabha constituency has filed an affidavit in the Gujarat High Court denying charges made by Rekha Vaghela and refused to undergo a DNA test as demanded by the mother of two.

According to the senior Congress leader he happened to know the woman because she was earlier involved in social work as president of the women’s wing of the Amreli district Congressand denied that he ever was in relation with her.

He also said the allegations were ‘politically encouraged’ and Vaghela wanted to blackmail him. The woman first approached a court in Amreli in 2011 accusing Rathwa of neglecting their love child and sought directions to Rathwa to maintain their son. But the lower court junked her plea for lack of evidence.

Last year Vaghela who identifies herself as the ‘second wife’ of Rathwa approached the Gujarat HC and demanded alimony and that the politician be put to a DNA test to establish the paternity of her elder son. The HC sought a reply from Rathwa who then filed the written oath.
