UAE- 937 motorists fined for dangerous driving this year


(MENAFN- Khaleej Times) A specialised traffic support team of the Dubai Police has fined 937 motorists for driving dangerously and endangering lives of other road users.The violations included driving in the wrong direction (with oncoming traffic) driving on the sidewalk jumping red lights driving aggressively to escape the police as well as overtaking in a dangerous way. The police have also recorded 3718 violations for unclear number plates so far this year Major-General Khamis Mattar Al Mazeina Commander-in-Chief of the Dubai Police said.

Maj-Gen Al Mazeina warned motorists saying that in all such cases of dangerous driving the police will seize the vehicles flouting traffic rules and endangering the lives of other road users as “nobody comes above the law”.

The police have also impounded 127 bikes for flouting traffic laws and confiscated 102 cars for stunt driving and racing. During Eid 121 vehicles including some from GCC countries were fined as their drivers had tampered with the number plates.
