Singapore's wholesale trade dips 2.2 percent in Q2


(MENAFN) Singapore's wholesale trade shrank 2.2 percent in the April-June period, led by a plunge in sales of metals, timber and construction material, Xinhua reported.

Overall domestic wholesale trade decreased 1.6 percent over the previous quarter, according to the latest report by the Singaporean Department of Statistics.

The metals, timber & construction materials industry reported a decline of 15.8 percent in the period, followed by the chemicals & chemical products, which declined 3.6 percent.

On an annual basis, domestic wholesale trade fell 6.1 percent in the second quarter. Excluding petroleum, domestic wholesale trade dropped 2.4 percent compared to the second quarter of 2013.
