Danish Maersk profits to hit USD4.5b in 2014


(MENAFN) A.P. Moeller-Maersk, Danish oil and gas shipping group, has raised its forecasted results for 2014 on solid results registered in the year-half, Xinhua reported.

A.P. Moeller-Maersk projects its net profit to reach USD4.5 billion in the current year, up from a previously forecasted USD4 billion profits.

In the first half of the year, the group's net profits hit USD3.51 billion, increasing from USD1.65 billion for the same period last year, the group said.

In the second-quarter alone, the group made a net profit of USD2.3 billion, up from USD856 million made during the same period a year earlier.

Maersk said the Group's outlook for 2014 is subject to considerable uncertainties, due to developments in the global economy, the container rates and the oil price.
