(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) The Mujahidin Shura Council in the Environs of Jerusalem (MSC) was designated as a Foreign Terrorist Organization (FTO) on Tuesday by the Department of State due to its claims of sending rocket fire from Gaza into Israel.
"The Mujahidin Shura Council in the Environs of Jerusalem is an umbrella group composed of several jihadist terrorist sub-groups based in Gaza that has claimed responsibility for numerous attacks on Israel since the group's founding in 2012," said the State Department in a Statement.
In early August the MSC claimed responsibility for a rocket attack targeting the city of Eilat Israel. Previously, the group noted it was behind attacks in which Gaza-based militants fired "at least five rockets" at Sderot Israel. Additionally, the MSC highlighted that it was responsible for a Gaza-Israel IED attack that targeted an Israeli construction site and killed one civilian.
The MSC also released a statement in February 2014 declaring its support for the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL).
