France denies involvement in air strikes in Libya

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) France on Monday denied taking part in any recent air strikes on the Libyan territories, stressing importance of supporting efforts of United Nations Mission to solve the crisis in Tripoli.

Rumors that France participated in air strikes on Libya are baseless, French Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

France's priority is to reach a political agreement in order to put an end to fighting in Tripoli, Benghazi or everywhere nationwide, the statement said, adding that France supports efforts of UN Mission backing Libya.

Paris calls on concerned parties to participate in those efforts to solve the crisis.

It was reported that unidentified warplanes targeted positions in Tripoli where militias have been fighting for control for over one month; none of the militias is believed to own warplanes.

Media Bureau of UN mission in Libya said that the warplanes don't belong to NATO.
