N. Korean Projectiles Believed to be New Tactical Missiles

(MENAFN- Qatar News Agency) Seoul August 18 (QNA) - Korean and U.S. military authorities have concluded that the short-range projectiles North Korea test fired last week are new tactical missiles. A military source said Monday that photos of the projectiles suggest that they were a new type of strategic missile. The source said the new weapon is completely different from the North’s existing KN-02 short-range missiles or 300-millimeter rocket launchers according to (KBS World) website. The name for the new missile is believed to have not yet been given but it is likely to be dubbed "KN-10" following the latest 300-millimeter multiple rocket launcher "KN-09." Last Thursday North Korea fired five short-range projectiles that flew approximately 200 to 220 kilometers from the eastern city of Wonsan into the East Sea. The following day Pyongyang released photos of the launch in the Rodong Sinmun the organ of the North Korean ruling Workers’ Party. The maximum range of the new tactical weapon covers South Korea’s southern region.(QNA)
