Iran reiterates its firm resolve to cooperate with IAEA


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif reiterated his country's desire to cooperate with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) in a meeting here Sunday with the visiting head of the international body.

IRNA reported that IAEA Director General Yukiya Amano arrived here early Sunday morning for talks on Iran-IAEA cooperation within the Cooperation Framework Agreement with top Iranian officials signed last year.

IAEA is the sole body internationally qualified in the field of nuclear issue, Zarif said in the meeting, stressing the need for the IAEA to act in the framework of its regulations as a professional and neutral body.

Amano is here to hold separate meetings with President Hassan Rouhani and Head of Atomic Energy Organization of Iran Ali Akbar Salehi.

This visit is Amano's second trip to Iran ever since President Rouhani took office in August 2013.

He had last visited Iran was in November 2013 to sign Iran-IAEA Cooperation Framework Agreement.
