Malaysia's GDP grows 6.4 percent in Q2

(MENAFN) According to central bank data, Malaysia's economy grew 6.4 percent in the second quarter, led by exports which kept up their strong performance, Gulf Daily News reported.

Gross domestic product (GDP) in the April-June period showed the strongest growth since the last quarter of 2012, accelerating from 6.2 percent in the first quarter.

Analysts had forecast Malaysia's GDP would grow 5.8pc in the second quarter. Other data showed the current account surplus narrowed in the second quarter as imports grew more slowly and exports remained brisk.
