Jordan's economy at worst situation - PM


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) Jordanian Prime Minister Abdullah Ensour said Saturday that his country's economy is undergowing at its worst stages due to the influx of refugees from neighboring countries into the Kingdom.

"The huge numbers of refugees put additional strains on the national economy. We are at the worst economic situation in the Kingdom's history," he stated in a joint press conference with Ministers of Planning and Media Affairs.

Ensour pointed out that his country is currently facing five economic challenges namely, energy, water, agriculture, refugees, and market instability.

There are several economic and political variables at the region, which are and their outcomes remain unpredictable especially since presence of three wars in Iraq, Syria, and Palestine, all of which surround Jordan, Ensour said.

The Premier added that Jordan is now rated the world's third largest host of refugees.
