US Fighter jets Strike ISIS Sites North Iraq


(MENAFN- Qatar News Agency) Baghdad August 16 (QNA) - US fighter jets on Saturday struck sites of the militant group ISIS north Iraq while preparations are underway for a joint US-Iraqi operation aiming to restore Iraqi strategic establishments. According to (CNN) the joint military operation involves American aircraft providing air cover for Iraqi Kurdish ground forces advancing in an attempt to restore a dam. On the third of August ISIS militias gained control of the Hydropower plant at a dam on Tigris River about 50 kilometers from Mosul. The UN Security Council on Friday unanimously adopted a resolution under Chapter VII provides for cutting off funding ISIS and Al-Nusra militant groups. (QNA)
