(MENAFN) The Chinese authorities said that a total of 50,144 smart cars were recalled in the country due to a defective belt drive, QNA reported.
The Chinese branch of German manufacturer Daimler AG, makers of the Mercedes-Benz, recalled the Smart 52-kilowatt hybrids made from 2009 to 2014.
The belt drive of affected models could be shaken loose by engine vibration, causing damage to the engine in extreme cases.
