Lenovo net profit up 23 percent in Q2


(MENAFN) Lenovo, the Chinese technology giant, announced it posted an increase of 23 percent in its net profit in the April-June period due to major sales of personal computers and smartphones, Saudi Gazette reported.

The world's biggest PCs maker registered a net profit of USD214 million in the cited period, an increase compared to USd174 million posted last year.

The company's revenue also rose, reaching USD10.39 billion, up 18 percent, while their worldwide smartphone shipments were up by about 39 percent.

Meanwhile, Lenovo announced a USD2.91 billion deal to buy Motorola from Google earlier this year, as the company plans to diversify its business beyond PCs.
