Hong Kong's Cathay Pacific registered net profit of USD44.77m in H1

(MENAFN) Cathay Pacific's first half net profit jumped to USD44.77 million, thanks to higher passenger demands, compared to USD3.09 million in the same period last year, according to The Peninsula Qatar.

The revenues in the cited period grew 4.6 percent to reach USD6.55 billion. The group chairman, said that despite of company's upbeat performance, it has faced different challenges including persistently high jet fuel prices.

"The operating environment for the Cathay Pacific Group -and the aviation industry as a whole - remains challenging," Slosar said in a filing to the Hong Kong stock exchange.

Aviation analyst said that the huge increase in net profits was on account of the airline's improving passenger operations, which contributed to a sharp jump in revenues.
