Indian missions gear up for Independence Day fete


(MENAFN- Khaleej Times) The customary flag-hoisting ceremony will be held on the premises of the Indian Embassy in Abu Dhabi and the Indian Consulate in Dubai.The Indian missions and citizens in the UAE will celebrate their country’s 68th Independence Day tomorrow.

The customary flag-hoisting ceremony will be held on the premises of the Indian Embassy in Abu Dhabi and the Indian Consulate in Dubai. In Abu Dhabi Indian Ambassador to the UAE T. P. Seetharam would hoist the flag at 8am. Consul-General of India in Dubai Anurag Bhushan will unfurl the tricolour at 8.30am.

Both of them will also read out excerpts from the Indian president’s address to the nation on the occasion.

“All Indians and friends of India are invited to join the Independence Day celebrations on Friday from 8.20am to 9.30am at the Consulate General of India Al Hamriya Diplomatic Enclave in Dubai.

The flag hoisting will be at 8.30am followed by a brief cultural programme” the consulate said in a Press release.

Various Indian associations have also arranged Independence Day celebrations in different emirates.
