Muslim Scholars deliver videotape of Lebanese captives to gov't

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) Muslim Scholars Association (MSA) announced Wednesday that it delivered a videotape of seven Lebanese army and security forces, who were captured by the Islamic State in Iraq and Levant (ISIL) during clashes in Arsal, northeast of Lebanon. In a media statement, Adnan Umama, an association member, said that the association received from the ISIL a videotape of seven Lebanese captives and it was handed over to the government in the context of negotiations between the government and ISIL militants.

The health conditions of captives are good, he said.

He asserted that the association conveyed to the government the ISIL demands to agree on ongoing negotiations, including ensuring safety of Syrian civilians in shelters in Arsal and the injured in Lebanon's hospitals and securing aid to them.

The ISIL called for the release of prisoners in Lebanon jails, he pointed out.

The association has been negotiating between Lebanon army and ISIL militants since the end of clashes to release captives from the army and security forces.
