Qatar- Karachi to host world's biggest defence expo


(MENAFN- The Peninsula) Around 278 delegates from 50 different countries will converge at the Karachi Expo Centre as Pakistan plays host to the biggest defence exhibition and seminar in the world on December 1.

Countries from Central Asia, Middle East, Asia and Pacific, Africa, Europe, North America, and Latin America will participate in the 8th International Defence Exhibition and Seminar (IDEAS) that will showcase the latest technological military innovations.

Global defence industries will meet at the four-day event, giving them a chance to demonstrate, sell, make joint ventures, outsource, and create technological collaborations within the Asian defence market. The event showcases a wide range of modern and conventional defence equipment, weapon systems and military vehicles.

The event provides a perfect interactive platform to defence forces and governments to assess the best products and technology to meet their defence and security related needs. Touted as the most strategic location in Asia, Pakistan was again chosen by organisers since it is located at the crossroads of three different geographical locations. Organisers said that Pakistan is the perfect venue due to its ever growing defence industry is in quest for seeking international alliances to meet the requirements of its armed forces and growing needs of the regional defence forces. Pakistan's own defence products present a perfect mix of indigenous and foreign technologies thus offering an ideal platform for defence collaboration.

According to their website, the most volatile geopolitical regions in Asia have now become the largest markets for defence products. It added that the changing international security milieu has brought governments and militaries closer together to share their ideas and plans to meet their requirements to maintain regional and global peace.

The event brings together international manufacturers and suppliers of products and services to explore the opportunities for cooperation in the field of defence production through joint ventures, outsourcing and collaboration.

The exhibit is an absolute defence industry show and the region's best platform for international defence system promotion and procurement. The chronicle of IDEAS series is a venture of government of Pakistan, Ministry of Defence Production which is organized by Defence Export Promotion Organization (DEPO), under the support of Pakistan Armed Forces.

A biennially held defence exhibition, IDEAS started in the year 2000. Over the years, it has grown very well in its reach, participation and international attendance to a level that is second to none.

IDEAS exhibits a wide variety of defence systems, ranging from equipment used in the third world countries to the most sophisticated technology from the west and showcases technology of tomorrow and innovations in defence with more than 2000 weapon systems and items of equipment on display.
