(MENAFN- Qatar News Agency) August 13 (QNA) - US Secretary of State John Kerry says Washington wants to evacuate tens of thousands of people on a northern Iraqi mountain trapped in a humanitarian crisis after attacks by ISIS militants on their towns and cities. "That is exactly what we are assessing" he said in the Solomon Islands capital Honiara when asked about further humanitarian aid and how to get civilians off the mountain. "We will make a very rapid and critical assessment because we understand it is urgent to try to move those people off the mountains he added. The United Nations warned on Tuesday that thousands of people are still on the mountain and face "a mass atrocity and potential genocide within days or hours." (QNA)
