(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) German Chancellor Angela Merkel and French President Francois Hollande discussed Tuesday the situations in Iraq and Ukraine, the German government press office said in a statement.
It added that Merkel and Hollande underlined the need the EU provided urgent humanitarian assistance to alleviate suffering of the displaced people in northern Iraq and to confront militants of the Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant (ISIL).
The two European leaders agreed to unify positions over humanitarian missions in Ukraine.
They also reiterated importance of solving the crisis in Ukraine diplomatically.
