EU blames gov't, rebels in S. Sudan for humanitarian disaster


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) The EU Tuesday blamed both the government and opposition forces for creating the humanitarian disaster in South Sudan.

"The European Union is deeply concerned that both sides in South Sudan continue spending their money on arms and fighting for power while South Sudanese citizens are beginning to starve to death," EU Special Representative to the Horn of Africa, Alex Rondos, said in a press statement tonight.

"There is no justification for this humanitarian disaster," he added in the brief statement.

According to media reports, rebel forcres from the South Sudan Liberation Army have been fighting government troops over the oil hub capital of Bentiu and five government soliders were reported killed on Monday.
