Kuwait- Defense minister 'highlights' governors' role in public policy


(MENAFN- Arab Times) KUWAIT CITY Aug 12 (KUNA): Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense Sheikh Khaled Al- Jarrah Al-Sabah on Tuesday stressed the role of governors in the implementation of the state public policy as well as following up citizens' affairs each in his governorate. Sheikh Khaled received today the Governor of the Capital City retired Lieut- General Thabit Al-Muhanna and Governor of Hawally retired General Sheikh Ahmad Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah the Ministry's Directorate of Moral Guidance and Public Relations said in a statement. The three exchanged friendly talks and discussed a host of important issues it added. The minister of defense appreciated the efforts exerted by governors contributing to stability in the country under the leadership of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al- Sabah the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces His Highness the Crown Prince and His Highness the Prime Minister. Meanwhile Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor has mandated Social Reform Society (SRS) to draw a schedule for shutting all unauthorized branches while the ministry suspends the foreign transfers done by SRS alongside many other societies reports Al- Shahed daily. A source disclosed that the ministry is on the verge of setting a new method of conducting foreign transfers in coordination with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs noting the ministry will ensure that it stamps all vouchers of the donations made officially to avoid meddling with donations. Shut He stated the ministry has shut down three branches of Fahad Al- Ahmad Charitable Society three branches of the Islamic Heritage Revival Society five branches of Social Reform Society and a branch of the Patients Aid Fund Society. He indicated ministry officials recently held a meeting with the officials of several societies including Social Reform Society Islamic Heritage Revival Society Al-Najat Charitable Society Al- Thaqaleen Society Patients Aid Fund Society and Fahad Al- Ahmad Charitable Society. He noted the ministry officials have directed the societies to adhere to the rules and regulations governing charitable activities and failure to comply will lead to the closure of the violating society. He also said the Minister of Social Affairs and Labor Hind Al- Subaih is very serious about the issue based on instructions given by the Council of Ministers as contained in the decisions concerning the violations of societies and that several other decisions are on the way to regulate the activities of these societies.
