(MENAFN- AFP) A strike by pilots over wages delayed or canceled all Aerolineas Argentina flights Tuesday, including those to international destinations such as Miami.
The walkout began at 7 am (1000 GMT) and is "affecting all flights," the state-owned carrier said. It comes a day after similar action by another union on Monday that also disrupted service.
The two unions taking part in the strike - the LAPA and the UALA that represents pilots of the subsidiary Austral - are demanding the reopening of talks on wages.
The Labor Ministry ordereArd binding arbitration at mid-morning but by then flights to Santiago and Asuncion had been canceled - as had all cargo flights - while others bound for Caracas and Miami were delayed, officials said.
Calling the strike disproportionate and unreasonable, the airline said the action breaks signed wage agreements. It promised to compensate travelers for the inconvenience.
Aerolinas Argentina was privatized in 1990 but reverted to state control in 2008.
