(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) Figures till the end of June 2014 reveal that there has been a rise of 4.4 per cent in the number of Omanis working in the private sector. The number stood at 189931 compared to 181860 till the end of 2013.
The National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI) report detailing insured and active Omanis working in the private sector revealed a decline in those earning basic salaries in the RO225 and RO300 range.
It stated that the number of Omanis working in the private sector receiving basic salary of less than RO300 declined by 2.2 per cent totalling 116228 employees compared to 118786 at the end of 2013.
Meanwhile those receiving basic salary in the range of RO300-RO400 increased by 23.3 per cent totalling 31815 employees during the same six-month period.
Also the number of Omanis receiving a basic salary in the range of RO700-RO800 increased by 17.2 per cent reaching 3593 by the end of first half of this year compared to 3066 at the end of 2013.
Meanwhile the total number of Omanis receiving a basic salary in the range of RO1000-RO2000 increased to 6912 at the end of June 2014 compared to 5929 at the end of 2013 a rise of 16.6 per cent. 'Those receiving a basic salary of more than RO2000 reached 2520 compared to 2181 employees at the end of 2013 an increase of 15.5 per cent.'
Regarding the number of private sector Omani employees governorate wise the NCSI report revealed that Muscat had 71344 compared to 67693 at the end of 2013 an increase of 5.4 per cent while North Batinah had 33316 compared to 31500 at the end of 2013 a rise of 5.8 per cent. The report revealed other governorates also witnessed an increase in the number of Omanis working in the private sector.
