Sponsors of Yemen's GCC initiative, UNSC team meet in Sanaa


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) Ambassadors of 10 countries sponsoring GCC initiative and a committee's experts of UN Security Council met Monday at the headquarters of Mission of the Gulf Cooperation Council in Sanaa.

The UNSC committee was formed by the Resolution 2140 relating to Yemen.

GCC Ambassador to Yemen Saad Al-Oraifi said that this second meeting was held within the framework of mutual coordination between the two sides.

He added that the meeting aims to contribute to supporting the path of current political process in the country based on the Gulf initiative and its executive mechanisms.

During the meeting, experts briefed the ambassadors on the nature of achieved tasks in Sanaa and meetings with Yemeni officials in the framework of implementing their mandate.

The meeting focused on a number of issues relating to the latest developments in the country.

The participants stressed the necessity of continuing efforts between the sponsoring parties of the initiative to support Yemeni efforts which seek to complete the third phase of the initiative.

The UNSC experts arrived in Sanaa early this month and met a number of officials and leaders of political parties on implementing results of national dialogue.
