(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) France condemned on Monday the execution by Al-Qaeda militants of 14 Yemeni soldiers in what appears to have been a revenge attack two days ago.
"France condemns the murder in Yemen of 14 soldiers on leave (and) it offers its condolences to the victims' families and loved ones," a Foreign Ministry statement said.
France also said "it assures the Yemeni authorities of its support in their fight against terrorism." The soldiers were on holiday and travelling by bus to the capital Sanaa when the bus was stopped by armed men near the town of Seyyoun.
The attack follows a government crackdown on militants linked with Al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula.
