Israel continues Gaza shelling

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) Israeli jetfighters continued bombardment of Gaza Strip on Sunday as Cairo intensifies efforts to achieve progress in the stalled ceasefire talks.

At least two Palestinians were killed and scores others injured when Israeli aircraft bombed homes and public properties in several cities across the densely populated territory, medics told KUNA.

Palestinian Ministry of Health spokesman, Ashraf al-Qedrah, said that a young girl was killed after Israeli warplanes hit a house in the town of Rafah in southern Gaza. A young man was also killed in Deir Al-Balah in central Gaza.

Dozens others were injured, some seriously, when Israeli forces bombarded northern parts of the coastal, the medical sources said. T The new deaths take the death tally of the ongoing Israeli war on Gaza Strip up to 1915 in addition to the injury of 9875 others. Thousands of homes and public facilities were either partially or completely destroyed by the Israeli fire.

Palestinian factions have also continued firing rockets into the Israeli cities, but no human losses were reported.

Meanwhile, Egypt continue efforts help reach a long-term ceasefire deal between Israel and Palestinians as the fresh violence threatens the talks.

Palestinian delegation has threatened that it will leave Cairo if it did not receive a response from Israel to their proposal for the deal. Israeli government has also said it would not negotiate under fire.

Egyptian mediators are trying to broker a new 72-hour ceasefire deal to allow the resumption of negotiation over a permanent one.
