(MENAFN- Khaleej Times) The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has launched a service for issuing and renewing parking permits for the elderly and the disabled through smart phones using the RTA Dubai app.Sultan Al Marzooki Director of Drivers Licensing RTA Licensing Agency said: “The RTA has configured its app to suit these two segments in our community. This is particularly relevant as easing the process of parking permits has become a pressing need for the elderly as well as the disabled. Besides that the RTA has embarked on a plan to augment the number of services offered via the smart applications platform. Upgradation of benefits
“The RTA has already started the implementation of a plan to upgrade the benefits and effectiveness of this application by beefing up the number of services provided under its smart app RTA Dubai. (The new services) ... for these two segments are called: Disabled Parking Permit (Temporary) Disabled Parking Permit (Tourist) and Disabled Centres Parking Permit in addition to a parking permit for those suffering from chronic diseases. The service offering extends further to include delivering parking permits to geographical locations of the entitled recipients of these parking permits.”
The service can be accessed on the homepage of the RTA Dubai app.
Once the customer enters his or her details in the system the e-application is delivered to the department.
The customer is then issued the card through the nearest customer service centre of the RTA.“Citizens over 60 years of age have to present an ID card and should have a passport issued from Dubai. If the passport is issued from another emirate the customer needs to present evidence of having a home or a traffic file in Dubai” said Al Marzooki. For the renewal of the disabled parking permit the customer has to hold a Disabled Card from the Ministry of Social Affairs or present a medical report from a government hospital which will then be assessed by the RTA Medical Committee.
