Jordanian Foreign Minister Receives Call from British Counterpart


(MENAFN- Qatar News Agency) Amman August 08 (QNA) - Jordanian Minister of Foreign and Expatriate Affairs Nasser Judeh received today a telephone call from British Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs Philip Hammond during which they discussed the latest developments in the region especially the situation in Gaza Strip. A press release issued today by the Jordanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said during the contact Judeh reviewed Jordanian efforts aimed to achieve a cease-fire and to respect international humanitarian law. The statement quoted Judeh as saying that the only solution that would ensure the non-recurrence of such a brutal and barbaric Israeli aggression is a political solution and comprehensive and serious political negotiations to ensure the establishment of an independent Palestinian state on the pre-June 1967 line with East Jerusalem as its capital. For his part Hammond stressed his respect and support for Jordan's efforts to achieve a permanent cease-fire and to reach a peace that guarantees security and stability for all countries in the region.(QNA)
