Tamannaah Bhatias mass appeal

(MENAFN- Khaleej Times) Fresh from the debacle of the Sajid Khan directed Humshakals Tamannaah is ready with another comedy Entertainment but this time she hopes it will be accepted differently she tells Arti Dani When an actor does a film like Humshakals questions will be asked and answers expected. While her co-stars from the Sajid Khan directed film Saif Ali Khan Bipasha Basu and Esha Gupta have disowned the film in their own way Tamannaah prefers to leave the past behind and move ahead. “Everybody has an opinion on the work they do. It’s very individual so it is difficult for another person to comment on it. My co-actors have their opinion and I respect their decision. When it comes to my opinion on it it is slightly different. It does not affect me in anyway. I do not look back. We cannot go back and change things. I do not intend on changing it either. I have moved ahead. There are lots of things that I am doing currently which are very important for me. I prefer to concentrate on my future and my work than regret my past.”

The debacle of her last two films Himmatwala (2013) and Humshakals at the box office must have been tough for Tamannaah but she is back to try her luck for the third time in Bollywood alongside Akshay Kumar. “I am looking forward to the audience’s reaction to Entertainment. I think although it’s a comic movie there is a different kind of freshness to it. The dog plays a very integral character in the film. I am sure it will be a fresh comedy in its own way” the actress told us over a telephonic conversation from Mumbai. WHEN TAMANNAAH GOT A PET

The golden retriever Junior who plays the role of Entertainment in the comedy flick proved to be a source of inspiration for Tamannaah to get herself a pet dog. “Its only after this film that I went and bought a dog for myself. Though it is Akshay who shares maximum screen space with the dog the scenes that I have did make me realise its value as a companion.”

This slapstick comedy directed by the debutant duo Sajid-Farhad tells the story of a father who gives all his money to a dog rather than his son (Akshay Kumar). “My character is that of a TV serial actor” Tamannaah told us. “Whenever she wants to say something she will talk in a very TV serial manner. Everything in the film is in the comic space. The best thing is that Junior (the dog used in the film) was so good that we didn’t really have to work hard on getting our timing right.”

Akshay Kumar has proved his comic talent over the years in films like Hera Pheri Housefull Rowdy Rathore and many others. Was it difficult to keep up with him “Comedy is like a home ground for Akshay Kumar” Tamannaah agrees. “I think what I learnt from him was to not contrive your comedy to be more spontaneous to try something new to enhance the given situation. He never repeats his takes he keeps doing different things. He used to surprise me with his variation of comedy. He used to keep playing pranks on us. Having an actor like Akshay who is so chilled out and funny was good on sets. He used to keep the environment on the sets very light.”

This twenty-four-year old South sensation has only worked with forty-plus actors like Ajay Devgan Akshay Kumar and Saif Ali Khan in Bollywood but is looking forward to sharing screen space with the younger lot. “I would love to work with the young actors because I myself am quite young so I am hoping to sign films that will give me more scope to perform.”

Tamannaah got the offer for Entertainment when she was shooting for Himmatwala. The writers of the same film - Sajid and Farhad - asked her to be part of this film. She currently does not have any Bollywood projects in hand but is busy doing three South Indian films. Entertainment’s fate will decide if this Southern import will have a long innings in Bollywood. (artikhaleejtimes.com) Is Tamannaah going Asin’s way

Both Tamannaah and Asin found fame by working in the South Indian movie industry before moving to Mumbai to try their luck in Bollywood. Asin stormed the industry with Ghajini (2008) after which she stuck to doing mass entertainment movies like Ready (2011) Housefull 2 (2012) Bol Bachchan (2012) and Khiladi 786 (2012). Following Ghajini’s success Asin shifted overnight to Mumbai leaving offers from South films behind. However she failed to make it big in Bollywood and seems to have burnt her bridges down South too. By doing movies like Himmatwala Humshakals and Entertainment is Tamannaah taking the same route as Asin The actress begs to differ. “For any actor the journey is different. When the time is right; I will get good character roles as well. I am doing three South films right now. I started working in the South Indian film industry like my contemporaries. Unlike them I am still working full-fledged down South. My situation is not like theirs. I am strongly doing movies in both the industries. From a career perspective I am not in the same space.”
