(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) The US Army announced Wednesday that Maj.-Gen. Harold Greene, the deputy commanding general of the Combined Security Transition Command, was killed in Afghanistan.
Greene was part of a coalition visit to the Marshal Fahim National Defense University, an officer academy of the Afghan army. According to a statement from the Pentagon, a man, dressed in Afghan uniform, opened fire killing Greene and wounding a German army brigadier general and several NATO personnel; the shooter was also killed.
A joint NATO-Afghan team will investigate the incident.
