(MENAFN- The Peninsula) Premier League new-boys QPR signed Chile defender Mauricio Isla on a season-long loan from Juventus yesterday.
Isla has received a work permit endorsement from the Football Association and is currently in Italy obtaining his working visa before officially linking up with his new team-mates.
"He's a top player and we're delighted to have him here," QPR manager Harry Redknapp told his club's website.
"He showed his quality in the World Cup for Chile and it's a great loan signing for us.
"He's a versatile player, he's full of energy. I'm confident he'll be a really big asset for us this season"
Isla started all four of Chile's matches at this year's World Cup and has 51 caps for his country.
"I am very happy to be here - this is the start of an exciting new adventure for me," Isla said.
"Everybody knows that the Premier League is the greatest league in the world and the QPR proposal is very interesting and one I am very excited about.
"I hope this coming season is going to be great for both the club and myself. I will give 100 per cent in every game to help QPR in the Premier League."
Isla is Redknapp's fourth pre-season signing, his arrival at Loftus Road coming just 24 hours after the west London club, promoted via the Championship play-offs last season, paid around £6m to land Cardiff midfielder Jordon Mutch.
Meanwhile, Southampton flop Dani Osvaldo completed his season-long loan move to Inter Milan yesterday after a miserable spell at St Mary's.
Osvaldo joined Southampton for a club record fee of £15m ($25m, 18.9m euros), but the Italian striker endured difficult times both on and off the pitch.
Argentina-born Osvaldo has played 12 times for Italy, but he failed to show that pedigree at Southampton and scored just three goals in 13 appearances.
One of those goals was a brilliant strike against Manchester City, but he never settled and was fined £40,000 and banned for three matches by the Football Association after a touchline row at Newcastle United in December.
The 28-year-old was then sent on loan to Italian champions Juventus in January after a training-ground fight with team-mate Jose Fonte.
He infuriated Southampton chiefs by failing to report back for pre-season training and was given leave of absence before finally securing a move back to Italy, where he had previously played for the likes of Roma, Fiorentina and Bologna.
His departure is off-set by the signing of Algeria midfielder Saphir Taider on a season-long loan from Inter. Dusan Tadic, Graziano Pelle and Ryan Bertrand have already joined Ronald Koeman's side during the close-season and Saints hope the arrival of Taider will be a further step towards appeasing fans frustrated by the sales of Rickie Lambert, Luke Shaw, Adam Lallana, Calum Chambers and Dejan Lovren since the end of last term.
