Samsung, Apple to end patent disputes outside US

(MENAFN) South Korea's Samsung Electronics said it had agreed with Apple Inc. to end all patent lawsuits placed outside the US, Xinhua reported.

However, the agreement does not include a patent licensing deal between the two parties, as the patent lawsuit in the US will continue, Samsung said.

The legal dispute between the two started in early April 2011, when Apple sued Samsung for infringing its patents in the US.

Since then, the legal battle has spread to nine counties, including South Korea, Germany, Japan, Italy, Britain, France and others besides the US.

"Samsung Electronics and Apple have agreed to end patent- related disputes in all countries, except for the U.S.," the company said in a statement.
