Omani social activist visits Egypt to spread awareness on drug abuse


(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) Omani social activist Helmi Hilal al Kindi recently visited Egypt to raise awareness on the ill effects of drug abuse.

Kindi who has held over 300 meetings and has counselled over 1000 people as part of his campaign against drugs was in Egypt for two months on the invitation of a charity organisation.

He also visited several schools to spread awareness on the issue.

'For the last few years I have dedicated myself to this cause. I was addicted to drugs at one point of my life but with determination and support from my family I got over it.'

The social activist plans to go on a world tour by the end of December as part of his awareness campaign. The tour which will continue for a year will start from Oman and will cover the Gulf Iran India Asia Australia Latin America and the US.

Kindi will be accompanied by a 12-member crew who will shoot a documentary of the tour. The crew which will be led by Qassim al Sulaimi from the Oman Film Society will comprise doctors linguists and filmmakers. He will walk for 30km a day for ten hours in every country.
