Iraqi envoy meets with UNSC President to discuss ISIL

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) Iraqi Ambassador Mohammed Al-Hakim on Tuesday met with UN Security Council current President British Ambassador Mark Lyall Grant to discuss Iraq-related issues, mainly the activities of the Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant (ISIL).

Al-Hakim told KUNA he also informed the Council President of the ongoing efforts between Baghdad and Erbil to fight ISIL and to help the internally displaced peoples to return to their homes.

He said they also discussed elements of a draft resolution the UK is working on regarding ISIL activities, not only in Iraq, but also in Syria and beyond, especially in Lebanon, and means to implement the sanctions on the terrorist group and on those behind it.

Although the draft resolution has not been finalized yet, the UK is working to put out soon a press statement condemning ISIL activities and expansion in the region.
