Operation in N. Pakistan kills 2 soldiers, 7 militants


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) At least seven Uzbek militants and two soldiers of Pakistan army were killed during the ongoing military operation in North Waziristan tribal region of Pakistan bordering Afghanistan, said military on Monday.

A press release by media wing of Pakistan military, Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) said that while the clearance was in progress, army troops carried out a snap operation on Uzbek terrorist hideouts in Datta Khel Bazar. It confirmed that two soldiers embraced martyrdom while seven Ubzek terrorists were killed.

Pakistan launched a comprehensive military operation on June 15 against the local and foreign militants in North Waziristan following a brazen attack at the country's largest airport in Karachi city.

According to ISPR, operation Zarb e Azb continues to achieve its objectives and is progressing well. Towns of Miranshah, Mirali,Boya, Degan, and area up till Dattakhel have been cleared.

Furthermore, the release said that a large number of IEDs and suicide jackets were recovered in the surrounding areas of Mirali in Shahbaz Khel, along with 75 Rockets, chemicals and propaganda literature. The ongoing operation has displaced over 0.9 million people from the tribal areas and around 490 militants have been killed.
