Israel continues offensive on Gaza, despite humanitarian truce declared

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) Israeli forces continue their aggression on the war-ravaged Gaza Strip despite agreeing on humanitarian lull proposed by the United Nations and US. After 10 a.m. (Gaza local time), Israeli warplanes struck and destroyed homes in the western Gaza City Al-Shati Camp, turning them into heaps of rubble and twisted metal and leaving their residents dead or injured.

According to medical sources in Gaza, 8-year-old girl Aseel Mohamed Al-Bakri was killed after those jetfighters bombarded her family's home. Scores also were injured in the offensive, the sources added.

The sources pointed out that ambulance and civil defence teams, which could hardly reach the place, are still searching for victims under the debris of homes.

"Airstrikes damaged many homes in the camp ten minutes after the lull announced by Israel went into effect," the sources added. In a related development, the sources said that ambulance teams managed to pull bodies of eight people out of the debris. They, killed by Israeli bombardment Sunday night and Monday morning in southern and southern areas of the strip, were transferred to Kuwait's and UAE's hospitals in Rafah, the sources added.

By noon, a home in Nuseirat Camp, central of the strip, was bombarded by an Israeli drone rocket, wounding the residents.

For its part, Hamas strongly condemned the targeting of Al-Bakri's home in Al-Shati Camp and the killing of its residents, most of whom are children and women.

Sami Abu Zohri, a spokesman for Hamas, said in a statement that such killings and targeting is evidence to the falsity of Israel. He urged residents to be cautious and alert.

Monday dawn, Israel announced that it responded to a seven-hour humanitarian lull proposed by US and UN in the strip, starting from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m., however Israel violated the lull when its army bombarded areas in Beit Hanon.

Israeli aggression has so far left beyond 1,800 dead and above 10,000 injured over almost four-week offensive.
