(MENAFN- Khaleej Times) E two who went into hiding after they were release on bail surrendered at the office of the inspector general of police (Ernakulam range) on Saturday night after police initiated steps to cancel their bail.THE BLACKMAILING case rocking Kerala has taken a new twist on Sunday with the police arraigning main accused Bindhya Thomas and Ruksana B Das in the case related to the suicide of Raveendran a businessman from Venjaramood in Trivandrum district.

The two who went into hiding after they were release on bail surrendered at the office of the inspector general of police (Ernakulam range) on Saturday night after police initiated steps to cancel their bail. They were brought to Venjaramood on Sunday and their arrests recorded.

The Venjaramood police have registered a case under 306 (A) of the Indian Penal Code for abetting the suicide. The police are also investigating the role of Jayachandran a key member of the racket who was arrested recently from the MLA Hostel in the suicide of Raveendran.

The case buried by the police was revived after Wilson Pereira a friend of the deceased gave a statement saying that Raveendran had committed suicide after he was threatened and intimidated by the sex blackmailing racket by showing videos of his alleged sexual acts. A suicide note left behind by the deceased has confirmed the threat he faced from the racket. Venjaramood circle inspector told reporters that the probe team had gathered enough evidence against Bindhya and Ruksana.

They included the telephone call details and the CDs showing Raveendran and Ruksana in compromising positions. However Bindhya claimed that Raveendran’s death was a murder not a suicide. She told reporters at the IG office that Wilson Pereira and Saji Kumar who lodged a complaint against them were involved in the murder. She said the two were ‘money bearers’ of a legislator and an ex-MLA.

Bindhya said several other politicians and senior police officers were also involved in the case and threatened to reveal their names in the court. She said Jayachandran who was remanded to judicial custody on Saturday after three days of police custody was close to former Congress MLA Saratchandra Prasad. — newskhaleejtimes.com For more news from Khaleej Times follow us on Facebook at facebook.com/khaleejtimes and on Twitter at khaleejtimes Follow khaleejtimes -->
