Brazil's industrial output dips 6.9 percent in June

(MENAFN) A statistical agency reported that Brazilian industrial output declined 6.9 percent in June over a year earlier, led by a contraction of the automobile industry, Xinhua reported.

According to the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE), June-figure marked the worst drop since September 2009, in which the industrial production dropped 7.4 percent.

The IBGE linked the drop in production to the 2014 Brazil World Cup, which ran in 12 Brazilian cities, where additional holidays were declared and factories were temporarily closed.
