India, Nepal strengthen energy, trade ties


(MENAFN) India's Prime Minister Narendra Modi plans to strengthen energy and trade ties with Nepal as part of his country's plan to boost neighborhood relations, according to Arab News.

The announcement was revealed in a recent two-day visit of the Prime Minister to Nepal when the two parties signed a number of energy deals.

Modi has already announced a concessional line of credit to Nepal worth USD1 billion that aims to deepen economic and diplomatic ties between the two countries.

Modi said: "Nepal can free India of its darkness with its electricity," adding that his government has pledged to end the country's frequent blackouts.
