Hamas Dismisses Netanyahu Remarks as 'Confused'

(MENAFN- Qatar News Agency) Za August 03 (QNA) - Hamas spokesman Fawzi Barhoum has dismissed Israel Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's televised speech as 'confused' and 'betrays the real crisis' in the current conflict going on in Gaza Strip. In a statement released today Barhoum said "Netanyahu remarks allude to a false victory of his government and army. We shall continue our resistance until we achieve our goals." In the same statement Hamas Political Bureau member Ezzat Al Rishq debunked Netanyahu's remarks as a "declaration of defeat failure of the aggression on Gaza confusion and a desperate attempt to raise the morale of his collapsed army". He said Israel is fully responsible for the consequences of this aggression and the crimes committed against unarmed civilians. He stressed that resistance to Israeli aggression would continue and the defend the Palestinians break the siege and fight for their rights. "The blood of the martyrs and injured will not go in vain. The enemy will pay a heavy price for its crimes" he said and described Israeli leader as war criminals. Al Quds Brigades the military wing of Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ) organisation too described Netanyahu and Defence Minister Moshe Ya'alon's remarks as an explicit recognition of defeat. "We shall continue to fight and achieve the goals of the Palestinians." Netanyahu warned Hamas on Saturday that it will "pay an intolerable price" if it continues to fire rockets at Israel but also hinted that Israel would reassess its operations in the Gaza war once troops have demolished Hamas tunnels under the Gaza-Israel border. The Israeli leader spoke after 26 days of Israel-Hamas fighting that Palestinian health officials say has killed at least 1650 Palestinians most of them civilians along with 66 Israelis all but three of them soldiers. Hamas has struck a defiant tone throughout the conflict saying it will not halt fire unless it secures guarantees that Israel and Egypt will lift a seven-year-old border blockade of Gaza according to an agency report.
