Shell profits hit USD5.1b in Q2

(MENAFN) Shell, Oil giant Royal Dutch, posted a strong increase of its second-quarter earnings over a year earlier, Xinhua reported.

The Anglo-Dutch oil and gas group second quarter profits in 2014 were USD5.1 billion compared with USD2.4 billion for the same quarter a year ago.

The second quarter 2014 earnings excluding identified items were USD6.1 billion compared with USD4.6 billion for the second quarter 2013, an increase of 33 percent.

The group attributed the sharp increase to the fact that it benefited from higher production of liquid petroleum and higher prices for certain products.
