(MENAFN- Qatar News Agency) W York July 31 (QNA) - The United Nations and the United States announced late on Thursday that Israel and Hamas have both agreed a 72-hour unconditional ceasefire that starts Friday morning. A joint statement released by the United Nations and the United States said that the ceasefire could get extended. Israeli forces will remain on the ground however. At the conclusion of their statement the UN and the US called on both parties to exercise restraint during the ceasefire adding that it will give much needed reprieve to civilians from the violence.
