Al Attiyah to CNN: Isreal Does Not Want Peace

(MENAFN- Qatar News Agency) Ha July 28 (QNA) - Qatar's Foreign Minister Dr. Khalid bin Mohammed Al-Attiya said commenting on the ongoing Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip that anything could happen given the way in which Isreal deals with the Palestinian people whether in the West Bank or Gaza Strip. " Speaking in an interview with US Network CNN Network broadcast today HE Al Attiyah said "Israel can not use highly sophisticated military machine against children I think they will not stand still If world does not raise the red flag to Israel and start to bring it back from what is is doing anything is possible." He stressed that the Israeli government is the primary impediment to peace saying "This is what they did with us and with US. Secretary of State John Kerry during the past nine months they simply do not want to see peace Mr Kerry he said had made a lot of efforts to bring peace and we have supported him and all Arabs were supportive of lasting peace. " HE Dr. Al Attiyah pointed out that there were two peace agreements which were violated by the Israelis and they also violated the agreement with the Palestinian Authority when they did not release the fourth batch of the Palestinian detainees. He said HE Dr. Al-Attiyah "I'm not here to defend (Hamas ) but I am talking about the history Hamas movement in 2006 accepted the election and I remember at the time that Condoleezza Rice tried to push us to urge Hamas to take part in the elections .. this is what had been done by Hamas and it (Hamas) succeeded the election but Israel did not benefit from this practical step by Hamas. " HE Al Attiyah added. On allegations of Israeli Knesset member Naphtali that Qatar was funding Hamas Movement and terrorism across the world said HE the Minister of Foreign Affairs denied that Qatar was funding terrorism and said in fact Israeli Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman Bennett who are practicing terrorism against the Palestinian people. On Qatar's support for Hamas HE Dr. Al Attiyah said: "We do not support Hamas but we support the Palestinians .. and we always try to reach the Palestinians who consider them our family and we provide them with humanitarian aid and through building schools and hospitals and roads .. If we consider this assistance as a tool for terrorists then I do not know what we should say what is Israel is doing with the people of Gaza. On whether the Qatari relief funds allocated for humanitarian matters were not spent on other things HE Dr. Al-Attiyah said I have to clarify this point we do not send money to Hamas but we send it to the people of Gaza .. we have proven that several times .. for example we have committed $ 450 million for the reconstruction of Gaza .. and we are building hospitals and homes ".. he said adding" all contractors who are in charge of our projects are from Fatah movement and all the funds are sent via the Arab Bank in Jordan and through the Palestinian Authority and we have proved by documents HE Dr. Al Attiyah noted. "He stressed that "it is not possible for anyone to accuse Qatar without evidence."(END)
