Air France picks up strongly in H1

(MENAFN) Air France-KLM is drifting away from financial crisis, as it announced posting a cut in losses and sharp rise in operating profits, The Peninsula Qatar reported.

In the first half of 2014, the airline's net loss was cut by around a quarter to USD826 million from nearly USD1.07 billion registered in the same period a year earlier.

However, the cargo nearly tripled its second-quarter operating profit to USD319.5 million, while sales dipped by 1.4 percent to USD8.59 billion in the same period.

"Despite a tough operating environment, the Air France-KLM Group maintained the momentum of its recovery in the first half of 2014," the cargo's chairman said.
