(MENAFN- Arab News) Om Stableford to match play to team and individual competitions night golf one would think Dirab Golf & Country Club has done it all. Until last Friday when the Bingo Bango Bongo format made its debut as dusk fell. That format was used during the Ramadan 9 holes Golf Tournament and Iftar Dinner. Not a few golf enthusiasts joined the fun golf event. The first place winner was Lars Engbord on 18 points.Jefry Hunt was four points adrift in second place on 14 with Susan Tessier taking third place on countback from Allen Godfrey after both golfers tied on 12 points. All four winners received prizes from Dirab Golf & Country Club. Al Galzam Fisheries is the tournament sponsor.Bingo Bango Bongo is a points-based game that can be played by any number of golfers from two up. Under this format three types of achievements are rewarded with a point: 1. The first player in a group to get his ball on the green gets a point (bingo) 2. The player in the group whose ball is closest to the pin once all balls are on the green gets a point (bango) 3.And the player in the group who is first to hole out gets a point (bongo).Add up the points at the end of the game and high points wins.Bingo Bango Bongo gives weaker players a chance to earn points because what matters is being first at something. For example all members of the group tee off on a par-4. The player who hit the worst drive (farthest from the hole) plays first and so has the first shot at winning the bingo point.
