Japan's trade deficit hits USD8.1b in June

(MENAFN) Japan's Finance Ministry said the country's trade deficit stood at USD8.10 billion in June, marking the 24th straight month of red ink, Xinhua reported.

Last month, exports dropped 2.0 percent compared to a year earlier, while imports increased 8.4 percent, according to the ministry.

In the first half of 2014, the world's third largest Economy recorded a trade deficit of USD74.84 billion, the ministry said in a preliminary report.

The yen slid down 8.5 percent against the U.S. dollar in the first half, as a weaker yen helps enlarge exports by making Japanese products cheaper overseas.
