Google's bid to acquire Spotify fails

(MENAFN) According to the Wall Street Journal, Google made a bid to acquire streaming music service Spotify last year, but backed off on the enormous price tag, The Peninsula Qatar reported.

The Journal cited a source saying that Sweden-based Spotify was asking for more than USD10 billion despite the fact that it only worth USD4 billion in its latest round of equity funding.

According to the US Securities and Exchange Commission, California-based Google said it planned on spending USD20 billion to USD30 billion acquiring companies or technology abroad.
