LG Display profits up 143.3 percent in Q2


(MENAFN) Data showed that LG Display Co. posted a net profit increase of 143.3 percent in the second quarter of 2014, Yonhap reported.

The South Korean firm's net profit reached USD250 million in the April-June period, compared to USD102.5 million registered a year earlier.

The surge in the net profit was attributed to the rising price of TV panels offset sluggish sales of panels for smartphones and tablets PCs.

Meanwhile, sales dropped 9 percent on-year to USD5.75 billion in the period, with operating profit dropping 55.4 percent to USD158.86 billion from a year ago.
